Vinylmation Star Wars Series #1
Star Wars™ Weekends 2010 officially started May 21 at Disney's Hollywood Studios™. This year, the event celebrates the 30th Anniversary of Star Wars: Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. It was 30 years ago today that the beloved motion picture opened in theaters.
We have something exciting to share with you in honor of this special day. It's the first approved 3" figure from the highly anticipated Vinylmation™ Star Wars™ Series #1 - Lando Calrissian. The series will debut later in 2010 (sorry, no firm release date yet).
How perfect that Lando was the first figure approved since he made his debut 30 years ago today! By the way, Mike Sullivan from Disney Design Group created the artwork for Lando and the rest of the figures in the series.
Don't forget, fans can meet Billy Dee Williams who played Lando Calrissian on June 3-4 at Disney's Hollywood Studios™ (note - appearances subject to change without notice). Be sure to grab a FastPass® before the Park opens to ensure your place in line for celebrity autographs. You can find the autograph FastPass® kiosk outside the Front Gate entrance. Quantities are limited.

Black Cauldron Anniversary Set Preview
For all of our hand-drawn animation fans, here is a look at a special limited edition Vinylmation™ collection that commemorates the 25th anniversary of Disney's The Black Cauldron:
The 9" figure represents the villainous Horned King, while the 3" features the loveable sidekick Gurgi. The original artwork for both of the Vinylmation™ figures were designed by Disney Design Group artist Monty Maldovan. The figures will be sold together and will be released soon.

pie-eyed Mickey from Big Eyes Collection
As promised, here is the image of the 12th figure in the Big Eyes Collection - it's classic pie-eyed Mickey Mouse also designed by Thomas Scott from Disney Design Group.

Disney Parks News Bureau
We've received many questions about this Vinylmation™ figure, which was created by the Disney Parks News Bureau as a special gift. This figure is not considered to be a limited edition, and could be reordered at any time (hence the lack of an edition size on the footstamp of the figure). This figure was designed as a promotional gift and is not available for sale at Disney Parks. Finally, although it is similar to the blue figure found in the Vinylmation™ Clear Series #1, the figure is much darker and is not a re-purposed Clear figure.

In other news, we recently spoke with Alex Maher who created the "Stitched Bear" one-of-a-kind Vinylmation™. This was Alex's first one-of-a-kind creation, and he gave us some additional insight into its creation. He spent about 25 hours working on the figure itself; each night he would spend a little bit of time making it come to life. He had two different concepts - one was a clown and one was the stitched bear. He loved how the final design turned out as it looks like a child's toy who has seen lots of love. Way to go, Alex!

Big TOPiary [One-of-a-Kind Collection]
This Figure is in the shape of Mickey Mouse like the others but is covered in a mosslike grass from head to toe and on the base itself which is removable. There are little people on the figure and base like workers.
